Safe & legal

A tip is only worth following when the bet goes to a licensed operator, and that condition precedes any talk of value.

Phrases like “betting sites not on GAMSTOP” turn up often beside tips. In law they describe operators outside the Great Britain licence, a loss for the customer and not a perk.

Before a first bet, a licensed bookmaker confirms name, address and birth date, joins GAMSTOP and reports to the Commission. Supplying betting to Great Britain unlicensed is an offence for the operator under section 33 of the Gambling Act 2005. A customer who merely bets there has not been identified as committing one, but forfeits protection.
