Horse racing & greyhounds

Racing is the oldest home of the tipster, and a tip on a horse or a dog lives or dies by terms that other sports lack. This section sets those terms beside the picks.

Each-way means a win bet and a place bet at equal stakes, so the outlay is twice the unit stake, and the place fraction differs by race and operator, being quoted from the market. What a winning selection pays can also move with starting price, ante-post terms, non-runners and the Rule 4 deduction.

Tax is handled separately too. On 1 April 2027 a 25% remote betting rate is set, yet remote bets on UK horse racing remain at the 15% General Betting Duty, as does pool betting, whose Pool Betting Duty is 15%.
